"I don't know if
this will change my life, but certainly the experience of having won
a Davis Cup at 20 gives me confidence for other tournaments. It's a
dream come true. It's tremendous joy for us. It's one of my best
victories, well, the best. I'm on cloud nine.'' - Ferrero commented
after winning the critical third match to give Spain the Daivs Cup
title for the first time in history.
"The secret is
that the Spanish players work a lot. They train so much they make
it possible to become the best players that they can. They put all
their energies into the game. They play in Barcelona, and in
Barcelona they have a lot of clay courts. It is not difficult to
find courts to play on. For me in Valencia, it is even easier to
find hard courts and clay courts, so it is easy for me to practice.
Also, we have so many Satellites and Challengers, which means a lot
of young Spanish players can play international tournaments in Spain
without traveling so much and spending too much money."

"There are no
particular Spanish players who influenced me, but when I was a child
watching TV I used to watch all the good players. I wanted to join
them and to play like them, to join this level of game, to be part
of this big Spanish team."

"My best
surface is clay court but I am open to improving my game on other
surfaces and naturally, I want to. Clay is the preferred surface
but I want to play well on all surfaces, including at Wimbledon. I
have never played on grass before but I am coming. I look forward
to playing on grass."

"My wish is to
stay in the top 20 on a regular basis. There is not really a
specific tournament that I want to win but I just want to play my
best and obtain the best results I can. I want to play at a good
level and remain in the top 20. There is no particular player that
I am afraid of, but a lot of Spanish and Argentinean players who are
good on clay."
